Leah's Corner: Community Love

Leah's Corner: Community Love
Our 14th anniversary is on the horizon, and with that I wanted to take an opportunity to share some of our wins as I reflect on this past year!

When I say OUR I mean you and us! These aren’t just any wins, these are wins we are able to celebrate because we have such a big and beautiful community behind us. From giving back to causes we care deeply about to fun ways we've been able to gather in community, supporting Scout and showing up for us each day makes these accomplishments possible. So give yourself a little pat on the back as you read through this list; WE did this, together!

• We hosted our first puzzle swap in the Spring at Leslieville. Thank you to everyone that showed up to show your strong love of puzzling. It was such a fun night of getting to know our customers. It reinvigorated a need for more community focused events, so stay tuned for a Fall puzzle swap

• We were a drop off location for a Moon Time Connections period product drive! The generosity in our community was abundantly clear as we sent off two big boxes and two big bags of donations to northern Indigenous Communities that don’t have enough access to period products. Thank you for filling up our donation box with more than we could’ve imagined!

•We organized our very first paper trail for Stationery Store Day with 5 other paper shops.  We're grateful for how many of you showed up to support your independent stationery shops.

• We partnered up with Parkdale Community Food Bank to sell their merch with all the profits going directly to the food bank. So far we have raised just over $1000 and counting!
 • We won SHOP2WIN at Leslieville!!!! Thanks all ya’ll that uploaded your receipts!!! Because of you we were able to do a private SUP lesson with some of our staff through Oceah Oceah followed by a meal with the whole crew at La Cubana. It was a really lovely day together.
We partnered up with Rainbow Railroad for a pride month fundraiser in June donating 5% of our net proceeds to this global not for profit. Thanks to everyone that shopped with us in June, we were able to raise $2215.

 • We ran two after hours crafting workshops with Stephanie Hung of Noble Space. It was really nice hanging out with those who participated after the shops were closed to play together! We had such a fun time, so we are hosting two more this Fall. Link here to learn more!
Looking back at that list fills me with a deep sense of warmth and pride. We've truly been embracing the heart of our community values, and that means everything to me. Running a business with this kind of purpose gives me a reason to keep going, especially when things get tough. It’s not just work; it’s my grounding force. My anchor.

I am grateful for you all. Without you there would be no us, and without us there wouldn’t be any of the positive wins that we’ve highlighted this year. We did this together.

Thank you for continuing to support the shop, through uncertain economic times, increased prices, tariffs continuing to surprise and confuse us, and everything in between. In honour of you we will be having our annual sale all day at both stores and online on Sept 18th!

I hope to see you there so we can celebrate all we've accomplished together.

xo Leah
