We all could use an Erin Templeton bag in our collections.  Adjustable strap, super soft recycled leather and made in Vancouver, what’s not to love!

Mom post not complete without an embarrassing photo of my mom and I from my baby days. Here we are just chilling in our rubber dingy at the cottage we used to rent on Lake Nipissing in North Bay.

Yes I look like a boy. Whatever happened to the blond hair?! My mom on the other hand, babe.

See you soon!

Hope everyone had a fabulous New Year! I know I did!!  2011 was such an amazing year for me, pushing myself to unfamiliar territory out of a very comfortable place in life.  Crossing boundaries, challenging myself in new ways and growing professionally and personally through it all.  I’m ready to take on 2012!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Great gift ideas just in!

Posted on

I tried to plan in advance for Christmas but as a first time Christmas buyer, and only 3 months in to a new business, I had no idea what to expect.  Luckily I’ve had lots of speedy suppliers and designers madly making and dropping off lots of last minute orders to keep the store stocked.  It’s awesome to see so many people are out shopping on Roncesvalles supporting all the new and old businesses.  I’ve said it before and will say it again, I’m so grateful to be a part of such a supportive community.

Now let’s get you  up to speed with some of the new things in the shop that could be that perfect gift you’ve been searching for.

How awesome are these?! Retro inspired Iphone cases!

Hand knit booties by local and lovely Baby Vintage Revival.  Available in 0-6 months and 6-12 months.

Everyone has a Moleskine junky in their lives.  Scout now stocks their notebooks as well as 2012 Agendas!

Lovely scented bubble baths, shea butter lip balms, and these great little gifts sets are all made in France! Ooh La La!

Kristen from Knotted Nest just dropped off a great new selection of her re-purposed fabric coasters, wallets and passport covers.  Good gift ideas for travelers, hostesses and the wallets even come in great neutral/manly fabrics.

The Matroyshka we all love also comes in this pretty drinking carafe, perfect for your nightstand. Also fully stocked with Matroyshka measuring cups again!

So excited to have local Touch the Dutch in the shop! She has a seriously innovative way of designing Canadiana jewelery that doesn’t have the cheese factor.  Here’s one of my favourite coat pins, yes it’s a lumberjack, and yes it’s awesome. Good for the ladies and the lads.

Perfect book for the crafty/artsy/creative type.  Tons of awesome stencils designed by Ed Roth.

Beautiful Ash and Maple cutting boards, as well as coasters and pate servers from Stinson Studios.  A small fanily run company that uses wood from sustainable wood lots, farmer wood piles, and harvested from their own family farm.

And I’ve got more fantastic moose, bear and whale pillows from Sparrow Ave! She’s been sewing up a storm for me.  Who doesn’t want to cuddle up with this great Canadian beast.

5 more days of shopping to go!  Hope this helps give you some ideas to help take the stress off.  It is really great when you find that perfect gift for someone that isn’t just going to go and collect dust or end up in their storage closet.  I’ve put a lot of thought into what I bring into the shop and I want you to feel good about your gift buying :)

Happy Holidays!! xo

Scout’s Grand Opening!

Posted on

It’s official, I’ve finally decided on a date for my Grand Opening! It’s been such an awesome first month and I hope you can all join me to celebrate!  See the flyer for all the details, including a full store discount!!!!!  I am loving the ‘hood and all the people that live here so thank you so much for making me feel so welcome, in such a short period.

Letterpress Cards!

Posted on

I actually wasn’t planning on carrying a lot of cards when I first decided I wanted to open up a gift shop.  As soon as I started looking into card companies though, the can of worms had been opened!  There are sooo many great card companies out there and I’m a sucker for a beautiful letterpress card.

Just got an order from Egg Press in today.  They’re based in Portland, Oregon (which as I’ve mentioned, I’m also a sucker for).

Beautiful, adorable and sometimes funny letterpress cards!

I also found this great (thanks to Kid Icarus!!) Canadian card company, Papillon Press based in Sudbury, Ontario.  They do some great Illustrated series’ also in letterpress :) The Whippersnapper, Rapscallion, Skullduggery and Lollygagger set is brilliant,  love it!

I’ve got so many more cards on the way, I’m going to have to put another card rack up next week!

Outerwear to keep you cozy!

Posted on

We had a beautiful summer like Thanksgiving last weekend, I almost forgot what Fall was supposed to feel like.  It’s definitely in the air today!  My fingers got a little numb on my bike ride to the shop this morning.. But don’t fret, I have brought in some super lovely, Toronto made outerwear to help us get through the weather to come!

These recycled sweater mittens by SLO are lined in fleece and come in every pattern/colour imaginable!  Available for Ladies and Gents!  Made in Toronto!

Julie Sinden hats made with 100% boiled merino wool will keep your head cozy and pretty! Three different styles and an assortment of colours to choose from!

Also made in Toronto!!

More to come!! Handmade knitwear from Montreal has been ordered and is being made as we speak. It should be in the shop in a couple weeks!!

Track & Field Designs

Posted on

I had a great little selection of Track & Field from Vancouver, BC when I first opened but they didn’t last long!  Super cute laptop bags can be hard to come by but these are super adorable (and some are even manly!).  They come in a mix of fabrics and screened images with the option of a messenger bag or a laptop sleeve, in 13″ and 15″.

Track & Field isn’t limited to laptop bags either! I couldn’t resist bringing in a few of these little guys too.

Little Otsu Agendas

Posted on

Little Otsu is an independent publisher based in Portland, Oregon and they make the best agendas!  They are undated for you to fill in so you can start and stop using it anytime and Little Otsu collaborates with different artists making them lovely to look at as you try to get organized :)

I was lucky enough to visit Portland when I was on a West coast road trip with some friends a couple years ago, and it’s true what they say about Portland.  It really is an awesome, vibrant city. Definitely worth a visit!!
