FOR HIM

vday6

Dopp kits from Izola make a great gift for the man in your life! Where does the name Dopp come from you ask? The name derives from early 20th century leather craftsman Charles Doppelt, a German immigrant to the United States, who invented his toiletry case in 1919.

sams naturals

And you can fill his new Dopp kit up with a plethora of products from Sam’s Naturals!  A new line I’ve just brought into the shop. They’ve got your guy covered with everything from after shave & shave soap to moustache wax and beard oil.

Favourite Christmas cards 2012 edition!

This weekend it’s December! Even if you aren’t ready to think about gifts (which let’s be honest, you should be unless you’re one of those last minute do it all on Christmas eve shoppers) it’s time to think about cards! I have a STELLAR selection of cards this year. Am I allowed to say that? It’s thanks to all the amazing designers I get to bring into the shop so I think I am :) Six out of the thirteen featured are Canadian companies too! YAY!

Papillon Press is from Sudbury On.  I love this gorgeous letterpress birch card Printed on eco-friendly bamboo paper.  It’s blank on the inside and is available both boxed as a set of 6, or in singles.

I’ve brought Wendy Tancock in over the holidays! I’ve already sold out of a bunch of her Toronto focused Christmas cards.  They are all wonderful, this one with the Mason Jar is especially nice. Available as singles only. Made in Toronto!

I have a lot of fans of Rifle Paper Co. coming into the shop. You have to see this card in person to see how gorgeous it is. Printed full colour with gold foil. Available as a single card or boxed set of 8.

I know a lot of people that this card would be appropriate for. For the shameless present lover (if you can’t read the smaller print click to see it enlarged)! Available as singles by Sycamore Street Press in Utah!

Regional Assembly of Text has a whole new slew of their awesome button cards for the holiday season.  This is my new favourite.  Available in singles only.

Drum Roll please. I’ve already had to re-order this card because of it’s obvious (non-censored) slothy, awesomeness! Laura George , you’re amazing! Made in Chicago.

There you have it! Just a small taste of cards Scout has to offer this year.  They go quick so if you see one you like, come get it before it’s gone!

I’ve been busy carefully re-merchandising trying to make everything fit for the upcoming holiday season!  Adding tables, shelves and a new card spinner.  It’s starting to feel a little bit like Christmas in here!

Here are some new items in the shop, and don’t forget I have a little online shop on Shopcaster for those of you that can’t make it out.  You can always email me if something is on the blog that isn’t on my shopcaster page and I can post it for you to make a purchase. Easy peasy.

New coaster sets from Izola in the shop! Sets of 6 including “Drinking Games”, “Drunken Sailor” & “Happy Hour”

Mariel from Isak & Inger just dropped off a whole load of new bags! I love this smaller Montrose purse available in wool and waxed canvas. Check out this super cute blog Boots & Pine that did a great little feature on Mariel and her adorable, lovely home in Little Portugal. (Psst. She also dropped off more of her mittens!!)

Filling the shelves back up!

Posted on

Well helloooo!! It has been a busy week so far!  My intern Caroline finished up last week so it’s back to working 6 days a week for me! I can’t complain though, I never thought I’d get days off in my first year open.. (Caroline I miss you already!!) I’ve also been getting loads of shipments in and there are much more expected! I kind of eased off a lot on Summer buying as I’d been told the neighborhood can get a bit quiet, but Fall is another story. Back to school, back to the everyday, back to filling up the shelves.   Here’s a peek at what’s new:

Cokluch!

I got my fall shipment of Cokluch bags in today! I couldn’t be happier! Made in Montreal these bags are versatile, functional and of course beautiful.  Adjustable straps, inner pockets, and fully lined!  Their really well made and I love their designs this season.

Frug!

Frug is another Canadian favourite in the shop.  Made in Ottawa they have two different lines with two different looks.  La Russe (pictured above) and La Pistole (pictured below).

Love them both, love it all (especially love all the geometric jewellery this season).  This is just a tiny taste of what I have in the shop from Frug.  Come in to see it all!

So Young Inc!

Toronto designer Catherine Choi of So Young Inc has come out with some awesome new styles for Fall. Pictured above are the new backpacks, they come with a detachable insulated lunch box!  The middle bag is the newest in the larger cooler bag design.  I’m a sucker for an artichoke.

Pictured above are her new backpacks,  just as good for adults as they are for kids.  Fully lined with a water resistant and wipe-able branch pattern fabric, and loads of pockets and compartments. It also comes with a collapsible insulated lunch bag.

J.R Watkins

I’ll admit the packaging is what first got me when I was shown J.R Watkins.  After finding out  this company is America’s original natural apothecary manufacturer (founded in 1868),  and that they use only the finest natural ingredients, I had to make room for them in the shop.

They’ve also got a 100% Natural, paraben free, phthalate free & dye free baby line that smells amazing (fresh shea & rice flower). Their price points are awesome too!

Old School Stationers, Greenwich Letterpress, Waste Not Paper & Rifle Paper Co.

New boxed cards and single cards from loads of my favourite card companies are in the shop.  Remember, if you ever come into the shop and don’t see a card you’re looking for, please ask! I’ve always got a few tucked away in the back.  I’ll be hanging a new card rack in the coming months so look forward to there being lots more to choose from!

Beautiful new sheets of wrapping paper from Rifle Paper Co. in the shop (perfect for those last summer weddings!)

More exciting news..

Scout will be turning 1 next month! I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since I had the pleasure of opening up my shop in the ‘hood.  The Polish Festival is the same weekend as Scout’s birthday, so stay tuned for details on an event coming up to celebrate, likely in October!

The Polish Festival is September 15th and 16th. Scout will definitely have a table set up outside full of sweet deals for you!  An email will be sent out with details as we get closer to the date.

Annnnd..

Scout has a deal in this month’s issue of Lou Lou magazine! Go pick up a copy to see the details on the giveaway.

Thanks for reading, see you soon!

Been getting boxes in every day now! Restocking the old, and bringing in the new! Here’s a few new items I’ve received this week:

I had the totem S&P shakers over the holidays and I had a lot of you inquiring about the cups.  So here they are!  A beautiful addition to any kitchen, and a space saver!

I couldn’t keep the soaps in stock over Christmas!  Now that you’ve all developed dependencies I’ve got a great assortment back on the shelf, or should I say the ladder… Who doesn’t want to exfoliate with a Tea soap!

Caroline from Persylla’s just dropped off some more fabulous necklaces! There seems to be a wee nautical theme happening here!

With all the families and kids in the neighborhood, I’ve also had a few people ask about bringing in some unique party invites! Rifle Paper Co. make these (and more!) beautiful invitations that I say work just as well for a grown up party as they would for a kid’s.

There ya have it! I’ll keep posting as I keep receiving :D
