The store is at its fullest, and I am still waiting on shipments!

Here is a small collection of highly coveted items in the shop for him and her this Christmas season.

For Her

The Hobo Lauren Clutch is THE fave at the shop.  Lots of colours to choose from. Personally, I’m a sucker for the ginger. Works as a wallet or on its own as a clutch for a night out.

The Good Girl bag from Erin Templeton is GORGEOUS! Spoil her with a bag that will last a lifetime.  Handmade in Vancouver.

The Flora necklace from Zippan never goes out of style.  A classic piece available in three sizes. Sterling silver and handcut in Toronto. Also has earrings to match.

This quartz bracelet with an assortment of vintage gunmetal and gold plated chains from Toodlebunny is the only one like it!  For that special, one of a kind lady.

I’ve got my shelf of Henderson Dry Goods filled back up just in time for the holidays! Her laser cut walnut earrings with 14k gold fill posts are a statement piece that don’t weigh your ears down.

Now that we’ve got her ears, neck and wrist covered, she’s going to need somewhere to put her new jewels!  This porcelain antler jewellery holder from Imm Living is the perfect display.

Cokluch mittens will no doubt keep her hands cozy all winter long. Made from recycled leather and lined with fleece, these Montreal designers know a thing or two about keeping warm.

This gorgeous cowl from Emmylou Knits is hand made in Toronto with 100% Peruvian wool. The colour of wool is really unique, green with bits of red and blue woven in.

Julie Sinden hats are popular with all the women in the neighborhood.  This is her newest style.  The Turban Hat comes in black, brown, camel and dark grey.  Boiled merino wool and made in Toronto.

For Him

What’s more manly than an eagle carrying an anchor?  Not much.  This mirror will give him more than just his good looks to ogle over.

Identity Apparel pillows are back in stock! Made from recycled army blankets and screen printed with geese, a bear or these antlers.  Any of the designs will be perfect for him to cuddle up to in his man cave.

Dear ol’ Dad

Posted on

It’s time to celebrate Dad! Well, almost time.  Father’s Day is Sunday June 17th.  Here are some great gift ideas to get you thinking  about dear ol’ Dad’s special day!

The number one coveted item by most men that come into the shop. Is he a Montreal fan or a Toronto fan? Every man needs his own special pillow to cuddle up with. Handmade in Toronto by Avril Loreti, and yes folks, those are the only two teams available :)

Music loving Dad’s will appreciate having a place to keep their precious concert tickets they’ve been collecting over the years.  Throw in a set of upcycled record coasters and a music box and you’re set!

Handmade in Vancouver by Henderson Dry Goods, these cuff links are made from solid walnut and acrylic mirror. An item to be loved and passed on for generations.

Canvas and vinyl wallets are the perfect man-cessory (I am copyrighting that word). Bikes, bears, as well as typewriters and foxes available. Handmade in San Francisco.

Of course, I’m still pushing flasks on everyone and anyone.  They really are a perfect little gift.  Take it to the golf course, take it to the baseball game, take it to the beach!

Been trying to get Dad to shave that awful moustache he’s been sporting since the 70′s?  Embrace the ‘stache and show your support with these hilarious moustache inspired gifts!

Speaking of getting Dad to shave..all natural shaving products for Men!  Made in Calgary available in a ready to give gift pack or individually.

Beer! Dad’s love beer! A wall mount bottle opener and this book showcasing bottles and cans from around the world and over the years wouldn’t be complete without a 6 pack of Dad’s favourite brew.

Don’t we all love anything CBC related? I’ve decided we do.  This shoulder bag is the perfect man bag. (Don’t worry ladies it’s perfect for you too! Let’s call it unisex shall we).  The journal is hand bound using an upcycled Radio Canada record, made by Toronto’s Papermuse Designs.  Scout ♥’s CBC.

Last but not least.. Thanks Dad for bringing home the bacon.  Merit Badge by Toronto’s Lee Maszaros

And of course, an amazingly unique selection of cards, perfect for each and every kind of Dad!

Just like Mom, the Dad post is not complete without a picture from the past of me and my Dad!

Thank you Dad for being so supportive of me and my vision.  Seeing you get excited about my dream helped motivate me and give me the confidence to see that this was an attainable goal, and I needed that. I’m so grateful for your support and your faith in me.  Love you Dad!

Now that’s a ‘stache! (Dad has since gone ‘stacheless..some tears were shed but it was nice to see the face hiding underneath!)

See you soon!

I heart mom, last minute!

New fun things in the shop!

Now that Valentine’s is over, I’m getting really excited about all the new product coming in for Spring!  I decided to skip the big gift shows and try to find more from smaller companies.  I’ve still got some stuff from the bigger companies coming in (nothing compares to Fred, Kikkerland and BlueQ) but as always I try to fill the holes with more unique, less mass produced items first!

Found an awesome company from Quebec that makes beautiful blankets, bibs and burp cloths all made with organic, super cute fabrics.  Perfect baby shower gifts!

Who knew it would be such a challenge finding the perfect candle companies for the shop.  It took awhile, but I’m happy with these two new additions to Scout.

Sydney Hale Co. is a company based out of Virginia.  Each soy candle is hand poured, with a double (cotton) wick perfect for an even 50 hours of burning.  Lovely subtle scents and simple packaging make for a perfect house warming gift. As an added bonus, Sydney Hale Co. donates 10% of their profits to an animal rescue foundation.

Voluspa is my other new candle company!  Made from a coconut wax blend they are even cleaner burning than soy. They come in a travel tin or a larger 3 wick size burning for 25 or 60 hrs and they smell HEAVENLY!

Local designer Sparrow Ave. has come out with a bunch of new drawings for 2012.  You may have seen her moose, bear and whale pillows in the shop :) Pictured is one of her tea towels with a new owl drawing.  She’s also doing baby blankets and bibs!

Brooklyn Rehab makes fantastic unique housewares and jewellery.  Pictured below are her super awesome S&P shakers and some of her handmade necklaces.  A welcome addition to the shop :)

Another new company I’ve sourced out is Branch Handmade from California.  Pillowcases, tea towels and scarves all adorned with lovely screen printed photos of ships, horses, owls, bikes and more! Good for the ladies and the gents!

People have let it be known they are really happy with my selection of cards in the shop! I really appreciate the feedback and have quite honestly become border line obsessed researching new potential card lines to bring in.  Pretty happy with these guys, Sycamore Press from Utah.

Henderson Dry Goods was responsible for the really sweet laser cut teepee and totem ornaments I had in here over Christmas.  Her main art is jewellery, laser cut from a walnut veneer with a 14k gold fill, her pieces are stunning.

Nicole Tarasick is designer from Toronto that I found at the One of a Kind show in November.  She makes lovely Canadiana housewares that don’t cross into kitschy territory.  Each graphic is also available on a tote.  So far the YYZ design is the favourite :)

And last but not least, I just got in a new line of jewellery!  Toodles by toodlebunny in Vancouver.  She makes lovely necklaces, rings and earrings that have that vintage charm to them.  All priced very reasonable too, everything is in the $25-$36 range!

Always getting new stuff in the shop, keep checking back!
