All in a day’s work!

Posted on

Got a lot done yesterday thanks to the help of Jason! It’s starting to look like a store in there!  Sometimes I am at the store working from morning to night and it feels like not a lot is getting done.  It’s amazing how long some tasks end up taking… feeling good about yesterday’s accomplishments!

Drilled some holes that Ikea forgot to

Finished sanding my crates

Sanded and coated with Polyurethane!

Drilled and hung my card racks!

Got a little crew coming in to help me again today.  Pressure’s on to be ready for next weekend!!

Hello pretty floors!

I had my floors sanded and refinished this weekend and wasn’t allowed to step foot inside my store until this morning.  The anxiety was killing me!  I was expecting a dark brown finish from what little glimpse I saw under the carpet and even though it’s lighter than expected, I’m super happy about the end result!!

These little guys keep floating in when I have my door propped open.  I think it’s a sign the birds are happy with my feather logo.

When I first saw the space I wanted for my shop, this is how it looked.  Not exactly the look I was going for, but saw definite potential, and it’s the perfect size!  It was a retail space once before and knew I could definitely work with the existing office look, making it a cozy warm gift shop! Look at those front windows!!  Let the fun begin!

BEFORE!

A lot of people have horror stories when it comes to hiring contractors.  I’ve been really lucky having gone on recommendations from other friends that have done a lot of contract work themselves.  My guys came in and told me they would demo the space in one day.  Didn’t believe it until I saw it.. glad I decided against attempting it myself :)

AFTER!

I know it looks a little scary in this condition.. but it’s pretty cool peeling away all the layers and seeing what we have to work with underneath.  Hard to see from this picture but those are beautiful hard wood floors that were hiding under that awful office carpet.

Look what else I found!

I know everyone’s loving the exposed brick look these days.. How could they not.  Adds such a nice detail to any room.  In my vision of what my store would look like,  I was expecting red brick, but as I have started noticing white brick in other shops I’ve definitely warmed up to the idea of it.  I have a mason coming in to expose it all and clean it up for me!  Can’t wait to see the final product.

TA DA!

My new fully exposed brick wall! Love it!
