All in a day’s work!

Posted on

Got a lot done yesterday thanks to the help of Jason! It’s starting to look like a store in there!  Sometimes I am at the store working from morning to night and it feels like not a lot is getting done.  It’s amazing how long some tasks end up taking… feeling good about yesterday’s accomplishments!

Drilled some holes that Ikea forgot to

Finished sanding my crates

Sanded and coated with Polyurethane!

Drilled and hung my card racks!

Got a little crew coming in to help me again today.  Pressure’s on to be ready for next weekend!!

Painting party!

My lovely friend Jenn, who has a way better handle on design than me, came by the other day to help me pick out paint colors.  I’ve actually only painted… maybe once in my life… so the thought of picking colours and getting them on the walls was a bit daunting. Who knew there was a whole system to picking out color palettes and sorting through the hundreds and hundreds of swatches..

Wanna know what colours I picked??  You’ll just have to wait and see!!

With lots of help, a picnic, homemade mini muffins, some sweet tunes and a few beers.. scout has been painted!   Thank you thank you thank you x millions to my wickedly awesome friends who helped me get the job done so quick!!  You rock!!

Prime Time!

Spent the day in the store today getting it all primed! Lucky for me I have a lot of awesome people in my life offering up their time to me.  So so so incredibly appreciative (thank you Jason and Jacqui!!!).  Makes the job quicker and it’s definitely more fun having friends around.  Got it primed in a day, hopefully get some paint on the walls this week!

Operation: fruit crates!

I’d decided I wanted to create the rustic shelving look using fruit crates.  They still have that antique look, without the antique price tag.  It’s been slim pickings though as the rustic look has been really popular and when I have found people selling them, they aren’t cheap.  I was told it was time to make a trip to Hamilton!

This place was pretty much giving these away they were so cheap!  I know they look a little rough around the edges, we definitely took the best of the lot!  You’ll have to wait until I’m open to see how it turns out…

Also decided since we were in Hamilton to go on a little scenic adventure.  Had no idea there was so many conservation areas around there.  Went to Dundas to see the Spencer Gorge and Webster Falls.  So pretty!
