Gift ideas for the little ones

The countdown is on! Less than two weeks of shopping to go.  Here are some ideas for the little ones on your lists.

Handmade in Stratford, Ontario these Tapochki slippers are the perfect foot accessory! Cozy wool fleece insole, elastic ankle and a leather tread on the bottom. sizes 0-6 months & 6-12 months.  Assorted patterns available.

So Young Inc. lunchboxes and coolers should be in every kids back pack.  Adorable patterns, functional and designed in Toronto! Lots of sizes and styles available.  Fully insulated and a shoulder strap that can convert it into a backpack.

Lots of hats from Noujica for 1-2 and 2-4 year olds in the shop.  Bunnies, flowers & owls in lots of gender neutral colours good for girls and boys.  Bamboo and cotton makes them super soft and a tie up to be sure it stays put!

A Little Lark just arrived! New onesie patterns now available in 3-6 and 6-12 month sizes. Also some adorable tee’s in size 2T. Kittens, wolves, owls, robots, you name it it’s on a t-shirt or a onesie.

Super soft blankets, burp cloths and bibs are also a great gift for the little babies in the family.  Gorgeous organic fabrics and they’re all handmade in Quebec.

Canadian illustrator Jon Klassen has two children books I brought into the shop just in time for the holidays! I Want My Hat Back & This is Not My Hat.  Great books, awesome drawings.

If you recognize these drawings it’s because I’m usually stocked up with cards from Red Cap cards featuring Jon Klassen’s illustrations.

Fidoodle! I am so happy to have this designer in the shop.  Everything is made in Toronto (can’t say that for a lot of kids toys) and she does it all with as many eco materials as possible (no plastic here).  Her block sets (Farm Set pictured above) are made using wood off cuts from flooring companies.  Other sets available include Summer & Winter.

Her DIY sets also make a great gift for kids.  Available in a Creature kit and a car kit.

They come with all the tools needed to make your own!

These XYZ blocks from Fred are a non traditional take on a classic kids toy. U is for underpants!

This Q&A a day for kids is a fun journal you can do with your kids.  3 years, a different question for every day.  Looking back on it when they are older will be hilarious to say the least :)

That about it wraps it up! Lots more to see in the shop.  Don’t forget Scout has extended its hours.  We’re open Mondays and opening earlier and later certain days leading up to the 25th.

See you soon!

What’s New!

Hope everyone’s staying cool this summer! Loving the heat, the sun, the warm nights, hard to believe I have product from Fall arriving!  Here’s a look at some new items that have arrived in the last little while.

The glass ware from Vessel has been a favourite!  I just got a shipment of new glass bottles pictured above, as well as stainless tumblers and even a water bottle that comes with a coconut filter straw that reduces up to 99.99% of the contaminants in drinking water.

Still waiting on the double wall glass tumblers, but in the mean time these 16 oz and 20 oz bpa free cups have a double wall meant for hot and cold beverages with the option of a straw or a flip top.

Decided to try out another line of silk screened onesies.  Made by A Little Lark in Portland, Oregon.  These 6-12 month styles are a perfect baby shower gift.  I’ve also brought in her line of letterpress cards and silk screened tea towels.

BlueQ is always a fun company to order from. Their new lavatory mists are a hilarious housewarming gift (for that right person/couple of course..)  Their tin boxes are constructed to replicate a vintage cigar box.  For your photos, sewing supplies and anything else that needs a home.

Toronto designer Shannon has been busy making new designs for her line, Moonlight for Violet.  These fibre wrapped curved bar necklaces are always unique! Gold plated and made in Toronto.

I’ve had Izola NYC in the shop since I opened, and I’m always excited to see what else they come out with.  Their 100% vegetable wax candles smell amazing and if that doesn’t get you then the packaging alone should.  Love the apothecary style jars.  Available in Rosemary, Lavender, Sandalwood & Jasmine.

Danielle from Zippan Designs has been adding to her line, which is always exciting!! Sterling silver, hand crafted in Toronto, one of my favourite lines in the shop.  The price is right, the quality is impeccable, the designs are unique and timeless.  Those little scissors even open and close! Love!

Erin Templeton has started shipping for fall, and I’ve already sold out of some colours!  The BYOB is made from recycled leather, with an adjustable strap and a little side pocket that fits a tall can.. you can’t go wrong.

And this beauty.  I have officially decided this is the perfect purse.  The medium tote, also by Vancouver’s Erin Templeton has a front and inside pocket.  The best part (other than the obvious beauty of this bag..) is the versatility of her straps.  It can be worn as a cross body, over the shoulder and even as a back pack!  Come in and we’ll show you how it’s done.  Available in new and recycled leather.

Lastly, the new issue of Pure Green Magazine is in the shop! Pure Green Magazine is an independent print publication for a stylish green lifestyle.  The magazine features eco style picks, innovative products and ideas, DIY projects, green home tours, eco travel destinations, organic recipes and more. There’s still time to grab one to bring up to the cottage with you, also makes a great gift for the cottage host!
